Reiki
Reiki (Ray-Kee) translates to Spirit Energy. It is the universal life force energy that sustains life from the stars to the Earth. Each individual has this energy residing within them. As an energy, it is primal and has existed forever. As a practice, it has existed now for more than a century!
Reiki as a practice originated in Japan when it was developed in the early 1920s by Mikao Usui. Mikao Usui devoutly practiced Buddhism and was driven to deepen his spiritual awareness. When retreating to Mount Kurama for a 21-day time of fasting and meditating, Usui experienced a state of deep inspiration, vitality, and enlightenment. It is said that upon Usui coming back from his retreat he tripped and injured his toe.
When he went to touch his toe, he felt heat emanating from his hands and found that this energy healed his toe completely. At this moment, he realized the power of Reiki as energy and developed the practice. He not only created a way to understand the potential of this Life Force Energy but created a way of living that continues to invigorate and inspire people to this day.
Usui went on to teach Chujiro Hayashi who opened a Reiki clinic where people could come to learn and partake in sessions. One of his students was HawayoTakata who was living in Hawaii post World War II. Upon traveling to Japan to visit family, she learned Reiki from Chujiro Hayashi at his clinic. After receiving her teachings she brought the practice back to North America, where it was warmly welcomed.
The legacy of Reiki continues to inspire new alternative approaches and compliments existing services.

Circle of Reiki Program
Nicholas offers Reiki Practitioner Certification in all three levels.
Usui Sensei designed each teaching to deepen students’ understanding and relationship with Reiki and themselves.
Level I/Shoden - Students learn the principles of Reiki, the history of Reiki, the fundamentals of energy healing, how to apply Reiki to self, animals, and plants. Students are also introduced to self-care concepts and mindfulness strategies to maintain their wellness.
Level II/ Okuden - Students deepen their understanding of energy healing by exploring how Emotional and Mental Health needs are nurtured within the Reiki practice. Students acquire more self-care and mindfulness exercises and upon completion will be able to provide Reiki sessions to others.
Level III/ Shinpiden - The Third level is considered the Masters level. Within this level, students learn how to teach Reiki and initiate others into the Reiki practice. Students continue to deepen their relationship with Reiki and are given opportunities to see how they can broaden their scope of practice.
Each level is offered over a coarse of 7 - 8 weeks. Each weekly teaching session is 1 - 2 hours in length.
Learning Reiki can initiate a healing response within participants. Due to this, Nicholas provides an eclectic approach to Reiki studies by including musical experiences to further explore the concepts and emotional responses that may arise within the course work. Courses are provided to individuals as well as people within various community, clinical, rehabilitative, and forensic settings.
An Attunement/Reiju Ceremony will be performed on the recipient at the end of the course to celebrate and activate their newly learned skills in Reiki.
